We Shout, “Lord Save Me!”
by Jolan

“But if we live in the light, as God is in the light, we can share fellowship with each other. Then the blood of Jesus, God's Son, cleanses us from every sin.”
(1st John 1:7)
First of all I miss you guys! =) I have so much work this semester it is really killing me, I appreciate any and all prayers! Every week we have 5-8 chapters of reading (chapters ranging from 30-100 pp.). Plus I have clinicals on every other Saturday and Sunday! I'm not complaining b/c I have found a true love in this profession but it can be a little overwhelming.

A dear friend wrote me today and when I wrote her back something kept telling me to share it with you too!

In life we all come across winding paths. Some are hard, some are easy, many are deceiving.

Sometimes we go through periods of isolation. We feel alone wondering where are you God?

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
(Hebrews 13:8)

God doesn't go anywhere.

He is always with you, by your side.

It is you who have strayed from his path.

The best story to associate this feeling with comes from Matthew 14: 22-23:

Immediately Jesus told his followers to get into the boat and go ahead of him across the lake. He stayed there to send the people home. 23 After he had sent them away, he went by himself up into the hills to pray. It was late, and Jesus was there alone. 24 By this time, the boat was already far away from land. It was being hit by waves, because the wind was blowing against it.  Between three and six o'clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the water. 26 When his followers saw him walking on the water, they were afraid. They said, "It's a ghost!" and cried out in fear.  But Jesus quickly spoke to them, "Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid."  Peter said, "Lord, if it is really you, then command me to come to you on the water."  Jesus said, "Come."  And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. But when Peter saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and began to sink. He shouted, "Lord, save me!"  Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught Peter. Jesus said, "Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?"  After they got into the boat, the wind became calm. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, "Truly you are the Son of God!"

Again, note this particular verse:

And Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus.  But when Peter saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and began to sink.

SPLOOOOOSH, we fall in the water.

How many times do we do this? We are walking along feeling good about our relationship with God. Thinking wow I'm on a roll, going to church and tithing and reading my bible, witnessing and praying. And then We take our eyes off of Jesus, we try to take on the world by ourselves, without faith. But family, we are NOTHING apart from God!!!

NOTHING!

We get so wrapped up in the mundane. We are too busy, or too sad or too tired BUT when it gets too tough to handle by ourselves what do we do? We start scrambling around until finally we do the same thing Peter did!

He shouted, "Lord, save me!"

WE shout LORD SAVE ME!

And what does our Father do??

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught Peter.

Jesus said, "Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?"

Why do we doubt?   Instead of waiting for things to go bad, or waiting until we feel lost or alone we go to God and we give Him everything!

That way God is always in control.

As long as our eyes remain on God we can do all things!

Embrace your relationship with God, let Jesus be the mediator between you and our heavenly Father. He already knows the deepest desires of your heart. And truth be known, God has a love for you that no human can imagine.

“Since these children are people with physical bodies, Jesus himself became like them. He did this so that, by dying, he could destroy the one who has the power of death—the devil— and free those who were like slaves all their lives because of their fear of death. Clearly, it is not angels that Jesus helps, but the people who are from Abraham.  For this reason Jesus had to be made like his brothers in every way so he could be their merciful and faithful high priest in service to God. Then Jesus could bring forgiveness for their sins.”
(Hebrews 2:14-17)

“But now you belong to Christ Jesus. Though you once were far away from God, now you have been brought near to him because of the blood of Christ.  For Christ himself has made peace between us Jews and you Gentiles by making us all one people. He has broken down the wall of hostility that used to separate us. By his death he ended the whole system of Jewish law that excluded the Gentiles. His purpose was to make peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new person from the two groups. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. He has brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and to us Jews who were near. Now all of us, both Jews and Gentiles, may come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.
(Ephesians 2:13-18)

God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

If there is one thing you can count on in this life, it is the fact that God is the one constant you can rely on!
