100th Anniversary of Azuza Street
The Azuza Street revival of 1906 was a time in which the Spirit of God moved like He did in the Book of Acts. It was amazing that Los Angeles became known as the New Jerusalem as powerful miracles of God took place.
Today, in 2006, Los Angeles is the New Babylon with drugs, crime, abuse and pornography ruling lifestyles. What happened?
Among other things... there were leaders of the movement who resented the fact that White and Black men and women worshipped God together. One of these men turned from the church and toward the Ku Klux Klan. In the Book of Acts, they were all in one accord. That doesn't mean they drove one gigantic Honda... it means that they were in harmony and their differences in nationality, language, skin color and creed melted in the presence of a mighty God.
Let's hope that this time, we avoid the mistakes of the past. Let us be bold to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all men... and to love one another with the fervent love that The Father has for us.
